The Ark is a custom-built 2023 Ford Transit Trail Extended High Roof camper van designed around one simple idea: family adventures should be comfortable.
Unlike many camper vans that are designed primarily for couples, The Ark was built to accommodate real family travel. With seating for up to six passengers, two queen-sized beds, air conditioning, heat, a large refrigerator, flexible seating arrangements, and enough power to stay off-grid for days, The Ark is ready for everything from weekend camping trips to cross-country road adventures.
Whether you're headed to the mountains, the beach, a national park, a soccer tournament, or a football tailgate, The Ark provides a comfortable home base wherever the road takes you.
Family First Design
As a family of five ourselves, we built The Ark around the way families actually travel.
We wanted a van that could comfortably sleep everyone, provide a place to gather during bad weather, keep food cold for multiple days, and offer enough flexibility to handle everything from camping gear and bikes to sports equipment and luggage.
The result is a van that feels less like a camper and more like a tiny cabin on wheels.

The Transit Trail platform provides excellent road-trip comfort while still being capable of reaching remote campsites and outdoor destinations.
Sleeping Arrangements
The Ark comfortably sleeps our family of five using two separate queen-sized sleeping areas.
Upper Bed
The adjustable shelving system converts into a full queen-sized bed running front-to-back (north/south), providing a spacious and comfortable sleeping area.
Dinette Bed
The dinette converts into a second sleeping area measuring approximately 60" x 75" in its standard configuration. It can also be extended into a full queen-sized bed for additional sleeping space.
Together, these two sleeping areas provide enough room for families while still allowing the van to function as a comfortable living space during the day.
Stay Comfortable Anywhere
One of the biggest challenges with camping is staying comfortable when temperatures change. The Ark was designed to handle four-season adventures.
Air Conditioning
A roof-mounted Velit 48V air conditioning system helps keep the interior cool during warm summer trips.
Heat
A gasoline-powered Velit heater provides reliable heat on chilly mountain mornings and cool fall evenings.
Ventilation
A Maxxair roof fan provides excellent airflow when weather allows and helps keep the interior fresh and comfortable.
Privacy & Bug Protection
The Ark includes a complete set of blackout window covers and bug screens for the side and rear doors so you can enjoy fresh air without inviting the bugs inside.
Off-Grid Ready
The Ark features a premium EcoFlow Power Kit system with a massive 5kWh battery bank and 380 watts of rooftop solar.
Whether you're working remotely, charging devices, running appliances, or simply enjoying life off-grid, you'll have power when you need it.

The large refrigerator/freezer makes it easy to store food for extended trips without relying on ice.
Flexible Seating & Cargo Space
One of the most unique aspects of The Ark is its modular interior.
The van utilizes a Pareto Aluminum Systems DOT pull-tested floor system and seating platform, allowing the interior to be configured for different types of adventures.
Whether you're carrying passengers, bikes, camping gear, sports equipment, or luggage, the layout can be adapted to fit your trip.
Additional L-Track and strut-channel mounting systems throughout the van provide numerous tie-down points for securing gear.
Entertainment & Adventure
When the day's adventure is done, The Ark provides a comfortable place to relax.

After years of tent camping and family travel, we wanted something that combined the freedom of camping with the comfort and convenience that makes family adventures easier and more enjoyable. Every decision in the build was made with real-world family use in mind.
