1996 Toyota Land Cruiser — Second Owner, Original Paint, Extensive Records — $26,000

I’ve owned this Land Cruiser since October 2011, when I bought it from the original owner with about 140,000 miles. It retains its original paint, body panels, glass, and engine and drivetrain. No paintwork, body repairs, or touch-ups. It has been garaged throughout my ownership.

It was my daily driver & overland rig until about 2017; then I used it primarily for overland trips and exploring the West. I’ve been active in TLCA and Rising Sun, and this truck has attended Cruise Moab and Cruisin’ the Woods. It's spent plenty of time off pavement, especially exploring Utah. I've always preferred BDR-style travel over rock crawling or tight technical trails.

Recently, it's only driven to Cars & Coffee. I still wouldn’t hesitate to take it on a cross-country trip, but it deserves more driving than I’m giving it.

HISTORY AND CONDITION

The original owner was in Portland, Oregon. Under my ownership, it has spent time in Oregon, Washington, Virginia, and Colorado.

The body and interior are exceptionally well preserved for the age and mileage, with very minimal rust. It drives beautifully, shifts smoothly, and the A/C blows cold. Everything works as expected, and there are no current diagnostic trouble codes. Known faults are detailed below.

MAINTENANCE

The truck comes with extensive records and receipts, including a service binder about five inches thick and a detailed digital maintenance log. Shops that have maintained it include Slee, Cascade Cruisers, and Cruisers and Company.

Documented work includes front axle service, starter and fuel filter replacement, brake work, driveline fluid services, and regular oil changes. July 2024 service records include EGR system work, Y-pipe, PHH, spark plugs, wires, cap, and rotor, plus a MagnaFlow catalytic converter.

KNOWN ISSUES

I want prospective buyers to have a clear picture before making the trip:

- It has not passed Colorado emissions testing during my ownership. NOx has remained above the limit, while the other measured values have been within specification. The most recent troubleshooting effort was in 2024, and the issue remains unresolved. It is currently registered in Montana. Service receipts and testing records are available for review.

- Small unrepaired dent at the driver-side rear corner from a parking-lot incident in Aspen.

- The original windshield is cracked.

- The steering-wheel leather is worn and currently covered.

- Oil consumption is approximately a half to one quart every 3,000–5,000 miles.

- There is an oil drip. I suspect the rear main seal, but the source is unconfirmed.

- The power antenna motor does not work.

- Passenger-side power door locks operate intermittently.

This has been a long-term enthusiast-owned truck, maintained and enjoyed, with its undercarriage largely original beneath the travel equipment. The records, original parts, and history are included.
