What’s nearby
If staying in the area, there are plenty of state parks, including Claytor Lake and Hungry Mother that are awesome. If just wanting a nice hike to a waterfall that doesn't include camping, Cascade Falls is wonderful, too. Or for the adventurous types, there are all types of outdoor activities in range including whitewater rafting-kayaking, hiking, or biking - New River Trail is great.
