Shirley is a guest favorite! She's a 2019 Ram Promaster 2500 camper van with a beautiful interior for a cozy home-away-from-home experience. With, high-end features and only the best materials, make your adventure around the Big Island meaningful during the day and restful at night.
Shirley fits a full bed (our guests rave about!), large sink with a manual foot pump, fridge, a mobile solar shower with a hand-pump, a ventilation fan for a cooler night, a butane stove (for use outside of the van), and swivel seats with a lagun table for eating inside if it's rainy out.

Shirley has two 100 AH batteries that are charged via 400watts from the solar panels and off the alternator. If you hotspot off your phone, she's a great place to work remote from.

Unprofessional, misleading practices. Asked for airbag waiver outside platform, changed check-in times without compensation, dismissed vehicle issues as 'functioning', and sent unsolicited marketing emails.

Poorly maintained, amenities misrepresented. Missing listed fridge/freezer, replaced by dorm-style mini-fridge. Vent fan only extracts air, making it uninhabitable in hot climates. Many items scratched, dented, or taped, not 'luxury' as advertised.

What’s nearby

I have put together a map of spots on the island where you could park overnight - secret spots, campgrounds that you will need to obtain a permit beforehand, and places to park in a pinch. My renters have had no issues with just a little bit of forethought and being mindful of where I park overnight. I give you everything you need to plan in advance (the more you prep, the better your stay will be!).

Cleaning: There is a standard cleaning and sanitation fee of $75. Should the vehicle be dropped off with lots of cleaning to do (grey water and toilet has not been dumped, sand on the ground, and dishes uncleaned) then you will be charged a $150 cleaning fee.

Prohibited areas:
Due to Bertha not having 4WD, you are not permitted to take her to Makalawena Beach, Green Sands Beach, Waipio Valley, or past the Visitor Center at Mauna Kea. You may hire local services to take you to these locations in a 4x4 vehicle. The van is equipped with a GPS that will alert us if she is in any of these locations, at which point you will be fined $1,000 in addition to the cost of any damage to the vehicle (which there undoubtedly will be, assuming you are even able to get the van back to the road, which you will not).
