Ten years ago, I embarked on an adventure that transformed my understanding of independence, and simplicity. Living on boats for a decade taught me invaluable lessons about minimalism, resourcefulness, and the true essence of comfort. These lessons eventually inspired me to design and build my own simple camper. Today, I’m excited to introduce this camper as a product available for sale, designed to bring the same sense of freedom and simplicity to your adventures.
Introducing the All Good Equipment Company. Our production prototype is now available as a demo unit to help bring the joy of teardrop trailer camping to the San Francisco Bay Area. Teardrops have been around since the 1930’s as a practical and inexpensive means for travel around the country. In the 40’s and 50’s, post WW2, teardrop popularity boomed, many examples of the trailers of that era are still coveted and remain in use today. We are currently seeing a renaissance in the popularity of these campers as environmentally conscious consumers opt more for smaller fuel efficient cars and electric vehicles, as well as the smaller footprint and the higher quality of independently manufactured trailers.
Our campers are built like boats, hand built in small batches right here in the Bay Area. Using durable, time tested components along with cutting edge materials and building methods, we build a fine piece of outdoor gear that is deeply desirable, utterly reliable, and radically practical. The result is a camper that gets you out faster, helps you stay out longer and, most importantly, come home refreshed.
We don’t see our campers as small RVs, rather, we design and build them as an essential component of your camping gear. When in an RV, the attempt is to replicate the functionality of a house. A teardrop seeks to enhance your time outdoors, providing you with essential comforts without isolating you from the experience of being outside.
In our teardrop, simplicity is a feature. Our trailers are built for longevity, but more importantly for reliability. We know it takes effort to get time away from our busy schedules, to assemble your crew and to get reservations at your favorite camping spot. The last thing you want is to delay your departure due to a problem with your gear. We stick to the basics to ensure that our trailer remains functional, regardless of shifting trends and relentlessly advancing technology.
Inside…
The cabin of our trailer is quite cozy. It is fully insulated, ceiling and walls, with sustainable sheep's wool. We regularly camp in the winter and with two people inside the interior temperature stays very comfortable, even when the temps dip below freezing. The cabin has a queen size dual layer memory foam mattress along with ample shelves to store your clothes and personal items. Store your book, glasses and other essentials in the headboard and keep your phone topped up with the usb ports.
The Galley…
The Galley was of particular importance to me as I designed it - We love to cook outdoors and make everything from the basics to elaborate meals. The ample galley counter is at a comfortable height to work and has a perfectly sized built-in sink. Water comes from the included 4 gallon water jug which carries enough water for two people for a weekend and is easily refilled at a sink, spigot, or filtered from a stream. Also included is a portable table which is height adjustable and can serve to expand the cooking area of the kitchen, or lower to coffee table height for fire-side table games.
Storage…
There is a large tongue box on the front of the trailer to house your extra gear as needed. We tend to store all of our soft goods, like clothes, sleeping bags, etc. in the trailer while underway which leaves us with plenty of room in the car for our other stuff.
Towing…
At 1000lbs the trailer is light. Most vehicles with a tow rating will be able to pull this trailer, including passenger cars and electric vehicles. With a couple of people, you can also move the trailer in your driveway to get hooked up or at camp to get the trailer set up just right.
