Sheldon - Old-School Adventure Machine

Sheldon is a classic white cargo van with a short wheelbase. It's easy to drive and simple to use. 150 miles per day included. It’s not a tall van, so tall folks will need more space. Ideal for adventurers who want to save a little money and be able to camp almost anywhere. This van has a huge gas tank, an automatic transmission and gets 12-15 miles per gallon. RV battery charges as you drive.

Sheldon used to be a bare-bones utility van for the city of Portland. Someone gave him a (inexpensive) paint job, fixed some dents, replaced his transmission, and parked him with a "for sale" sign in East Missoula. While a bit older, he still only had about 90k miles. So we took him home and built him out for a month-long winter trip to the desert. Since then he's taken us on trips around the West, to hot springs and trailheads, climbing crags and secret backwoods campsites. He's been rock-solid on the road, and has been the vessel for many visitors on their journeys all over Glacier National Park. The rangers at Many Glacier probably know the van well by now!

Overall this van is great for folks under 6' tall, who don't have mobility issues and plan to spend most of their Montana adventure outside. It has just enough amenities to feel cozy. It's like a hard-sided tent with wheels. We've waited out plenty of rain, wind and snow safely inside, playing cribbage and drinking cocktails. It's wonderful to get back to the comfort of this rig after a long day on the trail.
