Description
Skip the drive to the slopes, drive and stay up in the hills for your ski trip for a fraction of the cost of a hotel or condo in the mountains! If you are renting between December and April, please read this entire description, especially the winter specific notes at the bottom of the description for important information before booking.
After years of searching for the most modular, well built and capable class B vehicles, we landed on the Antero Bamaga Adventure Van. After touring every rig out there we found that this small company makes a van that is a best kept secret.
You will enjoy a spacious van that runs on solar and lithium batteries. It is a very comfortable and updated Mercedes chassis and driving is beyond luxurious. The vehicle runs on Diesel fuel. The van comes with a Colorado State Parks pass, so if you will be visiting one of the many beautiful Colorado State parks, you will not have to worry about the cost of that pass as well.
It is equipped with a full-sized bed that folds down "murphy style" and is otherwise out of your way. The space underneath the bed is the perfect place for an air mattress, and is where a third person (or child) can sleep. Our little boy loves having his own sleeping space that even has its own underbed lights! The fridge is one of the largest out there and you have a large, deep stainless-steel sink to wash dishes with ease. Whether you use the induction cook top or the microwave, cooking is so easy in the rig. There is a table inside the van that doubles as one side of the Murphy bed.
The van features the option for between 2-4 passengers. Depending on the number of people in your party, we will include the seats needed. If there are only two traveling, you don't have to lose unnecessary seat space. The entire van is very modular so the seats can come in and out and you can move them where you please.
While we personally did not think a shower was a good use of space in the vehicle, we do have hot water and an outdoor shower hook up that can be used. The van has a convenient cassette toilet.
The van also features a highly effective heating and cooling system, including a 12v a/c. The heat is fast to warm up and maintains a great temperature.
We have had the van for a year, it has been the most incredible experience and we want to share that with other outdoor lovers like ourselves. This van is expensive and one of the nicer things we have Ever Owned, therefore we are just getting it out there for rentals. It is in immaculate condition and will be a pleasure for you to use.
My husband, Trevor, and I are highly responsive, and well equipped to support you in any troubleshooting that you may need when you rent the vehicle. We will support you as it can feel like a lot to remember. Most of the utilities in the van are labeled and easy to locate.
***For winter rentals (November - April depending on temps), we will default to keeping the powered water system winterized. Please reach out, especially if it is November or April as this is highly weather and temperature dependent The guest will still have the use of the sink for washing dishes, and the gray water system will continue to work as well as the cassette toilet. However, the powered running water and water heater is the only element that would not be functional. If the guest would like to have the powered water system turned on, they will be charged an additional $150 to cover the cost of the process to dewinterize and then rewinterize the van and will need to agree to keep the van interior above 50 degrees Fahrenheit at all times. Most of the time in the winter the water system is unnecessary and if the van remains winterized for the trip we will include bottles drinking water and washing dishes/cleaning. Renters will need to familiarize themselves with the use of diesel anti-gel treatment (which we provide) and will be expected to add the anti-gel additive every time they refuel the vehicle if renting during the winter timeframe, even if the temps are above freezing when the refueling takes place. Additionally, we will reserve the right to cancel if the temperatures are predicted to be below zero degrees Fahrenheit (-17 C) for more than 2 hours any given night of the trip. These circumstances at most ski towns is exceptionally rare with average winter temp ranges falling between 14 and 36 degrees Fahrenheit, but it does sometimes occur. Winter Park in the Grand Valley, and the San Luis Valley (no ski areas) are the spots in Colorado where sub zero nights are the most likely. Those have an avg of 36 nights below zero degrees Fahrenheit per winter. This rule is in place because diesel fuel can gel below 30 degrees Fahrenheit (-1 C) and at temps below 0 degrees Fahrenheit, the risk of the diesel gelling even with the use of anti-gel is simply too great. If there is any failure in the anti-gel not only will the van need to be towed to somewhere warm, but you will lose the heater which in those conditions is far too dangerous. The only exception to this is if the vehicle will be parked at a location where there is access to external power (so there is the ability to use a back up heater for an extended period of time should the diesel gel and the espar heater shut down) and the renter is willing and able to accept all financial responsibility for the costs associated with returning the van to the condition it was in prior to the trip should damage occur as a result of the renters decision to take the van into those types of conditions and assume that level of risk. Traveling in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado during winter is inherently dangerous, and as hosts we are committed to the safety of our guests and the van itself. ***
