Description
$169/night typical daily rate, not including required and optional add-ons. Rates increase for holidays, some days and weekends, depending on demand or regional events, and between Memorial and Labor Days. I'll develop a quote based on your specific itinerary and circumstances. I encourage "giving something back" and "traveling with purpose", and in some cases will offer a discounted rate or package deal to folks who are participating in charitable events, military or first responders, Woofers, volunteer work, etc.
The Green Man's Van is a DIY upfit that has worked great for memorable overland adventures to Alaska, Baja, and many other special places across North America.
Comfortable, clean, practical and open, high roof interior layout. Economical 4 cylinder 7 speed automatic transmission 2 wheel drive twin turbo diesel with plenty of power and high clearance (stock). Note: This is not a 4 wheel drive vehicle and cannot be driven off-pavement without written permission of the owner, and generally with an upcharge. Forest Service and BLM 2WD gravel or fire roads generally permitted but you must specifically identify your planned route.
2 Solar panels (total ~400 watts), 4 6V AGM batteries, a 3000W Inverter, AC & DC capable for Off-Grid use. Shore power ready with 30amp plug. A Bodum hot water kettle, and other assorted camp kitchen items are generally available and included in the rental amount. If you'd like something specific, let me know.
Powered Cooler: 12V powered cooler provided. Manual plug-in. Attempts to keep contents 30^ below ambient. Not recommended for meats.
Heat: Webasto Diesel Heater equipped. 110V Space heater available (not recommended unless connected to shore power). DC electric blanket generally available for use.
Sleeping: Folding mattress, sliding platform design opens to 60" wide x 72" long. Tell me about your itinerary and I'll hopefully have some gear you can use either for free or for a small fee, depending, like sleeping bags, sheets, pillows, etc.
Bodily Functions: The campervan does not have a flush toilet or holding tanks. A tripod porta toilet is available, with essential accessories, but then you have a bag to dispose of. If you must use a bag, try to restrict its contents to the solid form rather than liquid. I'd suggest you plan to use Leave No Trace principles while using the van anywhere near the backcountry, and use public or campground restrooms and facilities as appropriate for your trip.
Shower: The campervan has a primitive but effective outdoor shower set-up available that can be used sparingly, after you've been familiarized with the process.
Other services and items available for your trip, either included or provided with at an additional charge:
