Description
vehicle has lots of extras. Full RCI skids are installed on the underside, with Demello Rock sliders and Expedition One front and rear bumpers. There is a Super Winch with a steel cable installed in the front bumper. The FJ is lifted 3" with new UCAs, springs, and Ironman shocks. The body mount chop has been completed so the summer tires don't rub. After the body chop, Bushwhacker fender flares were installed.
I have two sets of wheels (including the spare wheel and tire), the original wheels have Blizak winter snow tires, and the aftermarket wheels have the large summer tires (Fun Country 305 65 17's I believe) making winter tire change over easier and economical. Up top is a Baja rack that is flat for easy loading. I've added several RotoPak fuel containers with 2 on the swing out tire carrier and 2 more mounted to the roof rack. I've also added a black container for other liquids, and I have a white container for water not yet mounted on the roof.
All of the clearance, marker, and interior illumination lights have been changed to Diode Dynamics LED bulbs where possible, including the two inside the sideview mirrors. I've added a relay (completely reversible if you don't want it) that will keep the low beams on when you turn on the high beams, giving you better lighting on the road. The two sideview mirrors have been changed to convex heated mirrors for blind spot elimination. There are PIAA LED lights in both bumpers, a large light bar on the front hoop, and large LED floods mounted to the Baja roof rack. All the lights are wired into the spare switch locations. I've replaced the pathetic factory horns with PIAA horns that get your attention. For security the FJ has a Compustar/Firstech remote start and alarm system with keyless entry and touch pad for locking and unlocking.
On the interior, I've added heated seats and a relay under the dash (controlled by the ignition) to supply power for any addons for now and in the future. I've added the arm rest so both driver and passenger have the full complement of arm rests. Wanting a distance to empty reading, I've added a Scan Gauge II which gives lots of great information about the performance of the FJ.
I have a ham radio by Kenwood installed along with a MFJ antenna tuner that for added $$$$ I can leave installed. The radio is a 480HX that outputs 200 watts, Kenwood has discontinued this great radio. The head unit for the ham radio is installed on a custom bracket above the rear view mirror with the body of the radio under the seat. All of the ham equipment was installed so that it can be removed with little evidence that it was ever there.
