Description
1985 Toyota FJ45 Land Cruiser

This is a 1985, last year, Toyota FJ45 Long Wheelbase Land Cruiser pickup imported for Saudi Arabia. The new factory OEM dash cluster shows ~3820km and before that it showed ~11,XXX miles on it, which coincides with the install of a rebuilt 2F engine.  Miles on the vehicle prior to that are anyone’s guess.

The original engine was removed shortly after it reached the US, as it had rusted through from the use of normal water as coolant in Saudi. All the cooling system was flush and if need replaced at that time as well. At the same time, the knuckles were rebuilt, front and rear diffs were checked and serviced, as was the transmission and transfer case. Brakes have all been done, with new slave cylinders installed in the real, the parking brake shoes have also been replaced. All tie rod ends were replaced with factory parts a couple years ago. The head liner and seats have all been redone. It sits on a 2 ½” Old Man Emu lift and Toyo Open Country 33/10.50/15LT tires with matching spare.  A custom bed rack was fabricated and ties into the factor headache rack for the installation of the $4,000.00 unused Bundatec which has been sold separately.

Rigid LED fog light were installed and are activated by an OEM Toyota fog light knob on the dash. Accessories installed within the last year are, two 5gal Jerry cans in locking holders are in the bed and a Hi-Lift Jack mounted on the passenger sidestep, with a FJ40/5 specific mount made in New Zealand. Headlights were upgraded to Halogen units. The truck gets power from a ~ 1year old X2Power AGM dual purpose starting/deep cycle battery with 930cca and a 90AH capacity.

There is absolutely ZERO frame rust and the only current showing spots are in the bed around the mounting bolts. A rusty passenger side kick panel and floorboard were cut out and rebuilt by the “Rust Doctor” here in Grand Junction a couple years ago, then primed and paint matched to the truck.

Th truck overall is in very good condition for a vehicle that has never been restored, so it can be driven and enjoyed without fear of destroying a $100+ restoration. Or it would be an excellent candidate for restoration.  The engine has a small oil leak from either the rear cam plug or rear main seal, don’t know which until the tranny is dropped, both parts I have but I have been unable to install them thus far. I fixed the infamous galley plug last year, replacing the OEM solder plug with a screw in allen plug.

New front JBL speakers and a Bluetooth Sony deck were installed last year, with the speakers being mounted in the floorboards with mounts purchased from Specter Offroad.

I know I am missing something I have done over the last three years, so feel free to reach out and ask any questions you may have.
